Hunter's BBQ Sauce

£4.50

Pulled mushrooms and chunky chips are brought to life with our Hunter’s BBQ sauce; deliciously smoky and rich the sweetness from the raw Trelonk honey is balanced with earthy savouriness from our wild alexanders sea salt.

At Wild Cornwall HQ, we’re lucky to be the home of 10,000 Native Cornish Black Bees. Buzzing around our wildflower field and the oil seed crops; Borage, Sunflower, Calendula and Camelina, these busy bees have plenty of tasty nectar and pollen to feed themselves upon. Adding the honey into our BBQ Sauce has been a brilliant alternative to refined sugar. It provides a healthier sweetness which also contains health benefits.

The Hunter’s BBQ Sauce also contains the wild ingredient Smyrnium olusatrum, otherwise known as Alexanders or Horse Parsley. Popping up in hedgerows in January, this plant tends to stick around until September. Once its established its roots it grows well inland, however it does love a coastal breeze. You’ll stumble across lots if you’re out rambling in coastal areas.

An Alexander plant flowers from March to June, the flowers are vibrant, greenish-yellow in colour and they form in umbrella-like clusters. The leaves are bright green and arranged in groups. The seeds which grow off the plant begin green and they turn to a dark brown/black colour. The seeds have an amazing taste and you wouldn’t believe the similarities to black pepper.  The stalk is thick and resembles a celery.
